This print was made from a digitally restored original snapshot in my personal collection.
Original dust spots, scratches, tears and other blemishes have been removed and exposure and contrast adjusted, while retaining the character and intent of the original photograph.
I have been searching for & collecting photographs for over 20 years and am now offering some of the gems from my collection as enlarged reprints to display in your home, office or business establishment.
I use premium 240 gsm 10 mil photographic papers and OEM archival Giclee inks on a professional Epson printer for a final print that will last more than a lifetime and never fade if kept out of direct sunlight.
Prints are mostly offered in standard photographic sizes: typically 5x7 in., 8 x 10 in., 11 x 14 in., and 16 x 20 in. These will fit in standard mats and frames available in home product stores everywhere and online. For example, IKEA offers a line of frames in standard sizes at very reasonable prices. All prints are made with a border of at least 1/4 in. to allow for matting. Border size will differ according to the final print size and the aspect ratio of the original photo. Contact me if you have special size requirements.
Mats and frames are not included but I do offer custom matting and framing. Please convo to discuss pricing and availability.
These prints ship to you flat or rolled in a sturdy tube, depending on size and/or location, via First Class or Priority Mail.
PLEASE NOTE: The Watermark will NOT appear on your print and is for web copyright protection only.
*******A NOTE ABOUT TECHNICAL QUALITY:
Due to the age and nature of many of these original images, they may lack something in terms of technical sophistication to the modern eye. These are anonymous amateur snapshots, arcade and carnival photos, portraits made in hastily erected and bare-bones studio set-ups, prints that have been kept in shoe boxes and family albums for many years until they were finally abandoned to flea markets, estate sales, auctions and dumpsters. To me this does not detract from their quality or appeal and, in fact, in most cases, enhances them. These images are part of the rich social history of the 19th & 20th century which we do not get to see very much: telling, poignant, beautiful, funny, weird and even incomprehensible moments caught on the fly by people with everything from the simple early Kodaks to the new-fangled Polaroids and even the more expensive "hobby" cameras. Many of the images featured here from the RetroGraphic Gallery are undoubtedly the result of luck, magic or accident; but there are many, too, the result of, at the very least, a moment of fleeting genius.
Also to be found in this collection is the work of many unsung heroes and pioneers of early photography, working in portrait studios and in the field with large frame cameras, unwieldy and dangerous lights and long exposure times. Some of this work is exquisite and shows the tireless passion these artists had for their photography.
